The successful incumbent will be an integral member of the patient care team functioning in the scrub and circulating roles. The ORT works to their full scope of practices contributing to the assessment, planning and implementation of patient care in the surgical setting; in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse - Operating Room Technician (LPN-ORT) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN-ORT works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate of a Perioperative Nursing program for LPNs required. Must be able to lift 25lbs and have the physical ability to push, pull, bend, and stand for prolonged periods of time (in excess of 30 minutes). Excellent interpersonal/communication skills both spoken and written. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of an integrated team.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 2 years recent (within the last 3 years) operating room experience. Computer skills including experience with electronic charting. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized and rapid moving environment.
