Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Physical Therapist I works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide client-centered therapeutic care on a 30-bed post-acute rehabilitation unit. The role focuses on functional rehabilitation and safe discharge planning for clients with an average six-week stay, working alongside another PT, occupational therapists, and therapy assistants to deliver high-quality patient care. In this position, you will work mainly with older adults, with a variety of conditions that may include musculoskeletal injuries, cardiovascular and respiratory challenges, gastrointestinal issues, amputations, wounds, and more, and may be comorbid with psychiatric or neurological conditions. Your responsibilities will primarily include mobility assessments, functional mobility intervention (ambulation, stairs, etc.), fall prevention, and discharge planning. You will be responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. Hours of work include 4 weekday shifts (between Mon-Fri), however the specific days are flexible. Day shift is 7.75 hours but start time is flexible. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement. This position includes opportunities for further education and training in topics of interest to you, and mentorship from current PT practitioners on the unit and within the organization.

Description:

The Physical Therapist I (PT) is responsible for providing direct client focused therapeutic care, in collaboration and consultation with other members of the interdisciplinary team. The PT assesses physical status of clients, participates in the development and implementation of an integrated plan of care. The PT is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Physical Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong problem-solving abilities, with demonstrated analytical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient education skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within interprofessional teams. Demonstrated leadership skills. Ability to assess, implement, and evaluate patient-centered treatment plans.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in subacute, restorative, geriatric, or inpatient rehabilitation. Knowledge of mobility assessment, discharge planning, fall prevention, and functional outcome measures. Ability to manage a complex patient caseload.
