Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance and Engineering (FM&E) leadership team, the 4th Class Power Engineer is responsible for assisting in the safe operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment that support a healthcare facility. This role helps ensure a safe, comfortable, and reliable environment for patients, staff, and visitors by performing both preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other facility infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist in operating and monitoring boilers, building automation systems, and other essential equipment while responding to maintenance requests, troubleshooting issues, and participating in emergency response activities. Working both independently and as part of a team, the 4th Class Power Engineer responds to emergency situations, coordinates with contractors and other trades, completes work orders using a computerized maintenance management system, and ensures all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and organizational policies. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, excellent customer service and communication skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is adaptable, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced healthcare environment where reliability and responsiveness are essential to supporting patient care. Description:
The Power Engineer 4th Class is responsible for assisting with monitoring, repairs and maintenance of plant operations in accordance with Alberta Health Services and Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) standards and practices. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:Two years of building maintenance experience, preferably in healthcare. Knowledge of boilers, HVAC, BAS/BCMS, and preventative maintenance. Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of building systems and equipment. Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
