Your Opportunity:

Under supervision of the Rural Supervisor of Health Information Management, the duties of this position includes Patient Registration, Switchboard, Information Desk, Finance and Health Records functions. This position performs the registration function of patients utilizing a health care information system, which includes the collection/verification of patient's demographic information as well as validating insurance, financial information, completion of WCB forms and other necessary forms, ensuring information documented is accurate and complete. This process includes reception, application of identification wristbands on patients, creating unique life-time identifiers for non-residents of Alberta and other clerical duties to support the registration process. This position also provides reception services, operating the switchboard and directing calls or taking messages as appropriate, opening and closing the office, wayfinding, and greeting clients and families. Monitors security cameras or panels if applicable and code phones/alerts as required in the site. Additionally, this position maintains the integrity of the health record through scanning and retrieving confidential patient records as required. They must maintain a positive public image to patients, hospital and staff at all times. Confidentiality of all information must follow the procedures and guidelines set out by organizational and legislative guidelines and policies. The incumbent must be able to exercise good judgment and initiative in completing tasks and be able to work with a high degree of independence, confidentiality, accuracy, accountability and perform any other related duties as assigned.

Description: The Program Assistant III provides a wide range of clerical support, with varying duties depending on the specified program/department. The Clerk III performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Type 40-45 WPM required. Medical Terminology Certification Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Health Care administration preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
