This exciting opportunity is for a Program Manager within the Pharmacy Services portfolio who is responsible for pharmacy operations at 8 sites across the province and for oversight of contracted pharmacy providers at an additional 7 sites. The position is supported by 2 Unit Managers and 3 In-scope Team Leads. Travel to various sites across the province is required.
Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Operations- Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy Services & Antimicrobial Stewardship, the Program Manager has accountability for the ongoing operation of the pharmacy department at assigned site(s) and is responsible for participating in strategic planning, identifying budget requirements (human, material and capital resources) to safely meet patients’ needs, managing expenditures and variance analysis, direct supervision and scheduling of professional and ancillary staff, creating and sustaining healthy work environments including resolving occupational health, safety and wellness (OHS&W) issues, maintaining collaborative working relationships with other services and facilitating the implementation of changes to structure and processes in order to accomplish improved outcomes in customer satisfaction, quality of care and cost containment. The Program Manager, Pharmacy encourages positive relationship between staff in keeping with the Covenant Health mission, vision and values, and demonstrates leadership skills that will focus and support a dynamic team. A baccalaureate or Doctoral Degree in Pharmacy is required. Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Alberta College of Pharmacists. A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in a hospital pharmacy is required. Must have at least three years of previous leadership experience including direct supervision. Strong computer skills utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint in a Windows environment are required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Able to integrate and apply clinical knowledge in the day to day operation of the department. Demonstrated managerial competencies that include excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, problem solving, conflict resolution, analytical thinking, interpersonal and group management skills, change management, organization and project management skills. Familiarity with hospital pharmacy software and electronic medical record system. Must be able to maintain privacy, dignity, confidentiality and morale of all concerned. Demonstrated optimism and enthusiasm about the Pharmacy program with commitment to continuous quality improvement. Demonstrated customer service approach to pharmacy staff and site programs.
