Killam Health Centre is a unique health facility combining a 5 bed acute care unit, an active Emergency Department and 50 beds of mixed Continuing Care. The Continuing Care Unit (Campus of Caring) includes 10 Long Term Care beds along with 40 Supportive Living (SL4 and SL4D) beds. Killam is located just 45 minutes east of Camrose. Killam has a talented team of interdisciplinary staff to support both the acute care patient population as well as the residents of the Campus of Caring. The successful candidate will find themself partnering with various multi-level stakeholders on service delivery, as well as providing advocacy for the patients and residents and team at the site. We are in search for that individual who has a proven track in developing programs that support organizational plans; can make ethical decisions and result-oriented recommendations. This position will also lead/monitor program planning & performance, support change and drive continuous improvement. Description:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, the Program Manager is responsible for the operational and administrative management of the Killam Site. This position leads the Unit Manager & Resident Care Manager and their health care teams in the development of a shared vision for unit(s) and program(s). The Program Manager leads or participates in developing clinical standards and ensures adherence to established clinical and Continuing Care Standards and required organizational practices as well as overseeing and ensuring that staff schedules and rotations adhere to contractual agreements. The PM is accountable for collaborating with HR to address complicated performance management issues escalated by Unit Manager and Resident Care Manager; Reviewing current and upcoming vacancies to identify options and opportunities for change in care delivery; Understanding and ensuring adherence to AHS Service Level Agreements (as applicable); Championing clinical practice changes within program and units; Liaising with all necessary staff & stakeholders to achieve optimal bed utilization and care management; Championing and standardizing processes to improve unit/program performance which may include leading a Lean and/or process improvement initiative. This position investigates concerns, provides documented review findings and initiates corrective action as required; Acts as a program champion for patient safety initiatives including Accreditation and participating in Service Excellence Teams; Works closely with Covenant Health Emergency Disaster Management to develop and review business continuity plans for the program, etc. The Program Manager maximizes their leadership skills, organizational & decision-making skills, coaching, patient/resident focused orientation and commitment to provide quality service. This non-unionized position has an on-call requirement.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a health discipline is required; Master’s Degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Must have at least 8 – 10 years progressively responsible experience within a clinical care setting, five of which will have been in a supervisory/management level position. Certified in CPR necessary. Active annual registration with professional college required (where applicable). Please note: Travel is required, and may include the use of a personal vehicle. A standard driver’s abstract may also be required for use of corporate lease vehicles.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong clinical knowledge and skill in acute care nursing, and Continuing Care or relevant specialty. Proven skills in management, program leadership, operational planning. Strong organizational and conflict resolution skills. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a dynamic environment with competing priorities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to travel occasionally to other COV rural sites as well as to Edmonton. Must have valid Alberta driver’s license.
