Candidates must be credentialed as either: Certified, Substantially Equivalent, or Deemed Competent, as per Alberta Health's hiring standards for HCAs. Preference will be given to HCAs enrolled on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of the Health Care Aide program or recognized equivalent required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Completion of grade 10 or equivalent required. Ability to speak, read and write English fluently. Psychiatric Aides must have the above qualifications, as well as: Successful completion a recognized mental health certificate program, or have successfully completed one full time year (2022.75 hours) of working with psychiatry or dementia patients/residents within an acute care or continuing care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent patient care experience in a mental health acute care setting preferred. Completion of the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred.
