Required Qualifications: Candidates must be credentialed as either: Certified, Substantially Equivalent, or Deemed Competent, as per Alberta Health's hiring standards for HCAs. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Additional Required Qualifications:Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Completion of grade 10 or equivalent preferred. Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently. Ability to work independently and function as a team member. Ability to be self-directed, have good organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. N95 mask FIT testing is required. Recent patient care experience in a geriatric psychiatry or mental health setting. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier under LOU #20 if a regular employee of the same classification who holds a regular position within this unit expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. Preferred Qualifications:Recent patient care experience in a Geriatric Psychiatry or mental health setting preferred. Successful completion of a recognized mental health certificate program, or have successfully completed one full time year (2022.75 hours) of working with psychiatry or dementia patients/residents within an acute care or continuing care setting. Ability to maintain own educational requirements with the assistance of the education department and manager.
