Required Qualifications:

Candidates must be credentialed as either: Certified, Substantially Equivalent, or Deemed Competent, as per Alberta Health's hiring standards for HCAs. Physically able to assist with all aspects of patient/resident care and transport, e.g. walking, standing, bending and lifting. Must be able to understand written and verbal directions in English.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Completion of grade 10 or equivalent preferred. HCA certification required. Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently. Ability to work independently and function as a team member. Ability to be self-directed, have good organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work in a fast-paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. Experience in Geriatrics is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent patient care experience in a Geriatric Psychiatry or mental health setting preferred. Successful completion of a recognized mental health certificate program, or have successfully completed one full time year (2022.75 hours) of working with psychiatry or dementia patients/residents within an acute care or continuing care setting. Ability to maintain own educational requirements with the assistance of the education department and manager. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention preferred.
