A directly related diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of a 2 year Recreation Therapy Assistant Certificate from a recognized educational institution or equivalent. Ability to interact positively with patients of varying disabilities. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of staff, patient’s families and outside agencies. Able to plan and structure daily activities. Must be in excellent physical condition, and able to assist with moving/lifting/supporting patients. Must be able to push in excess of 60kg and lift over 60kg occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working with geriatric psychiatry patients is an asset.
