Description:
Description: The Recreation Therapist I is responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services in the area of functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation. Responsible for assessing client's recreation and leisure needs, developing treatment plans and providing therapeutic programs/ activities to meet these needs. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Baccalaureate in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or a related field required. Registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:One year of experience in hospital setting. Previous experience with mental health population desired. Creative abilities in recreational activities. Able to work independently. Familiar with a variety of social /leisure, arts/crafts and sporting activities. Strong written and verbal skills. Able to foster a positive and supportive environment for patients with mental health illness. Able to liaise with community resources. Connect Care experience.
