Description: The Recreation Therapist I is responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services in the area of functional intervention, leisure education and recreation participation. Responsible for assessing client's recreation and leisure needs, developing treatment plans and providing therapeutic programs/ activities to meet these needs. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Baccalaureate in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or a related field required. Registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association is required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate recreational programming. Must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a valid Class 4 driver’s license, this must be clearly demonstrated this within the resume or cover letter. Please note: Must be able to travel between various sites/locations; and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience operating a Handi Bus or similar accessible transportation vehicle. Experience facilitating recreational programming in Continuing Care or with older adults is preferred. Demonstrated enthusiasm and creativity in developing meaningful, engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for residents. Proficiency in basic computer applications to support effective communication and documentation.
