Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0 PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this unit/program/office expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date, under LOU #25. Please be advised this posting may be used to fill multiple identical vacancies arising as a result of the administration of the Trial of Modified Posting Provisions.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Interested candidates must be a graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent as well as have active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. They must also have current Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider. They will also require an Adult Critical Care Nursing certificate or OPACCA (Critical Care Orientation Program) with 1 year of recent adult critical care experience or they must pass a Critical Care challenge exam. Other required qualities include effective communication and organizational skills, proven by the ability to communicate changes in patient condition in a clear and timely manner. Along with sound assessment skills, the successful candidate should also have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, in order to recognize, prioritize and anticipate patient needs. Successful candidates without previous critical care experience will undergo the Critical Care Orientation Program (OPACCA). When enrolled in OPACCA, the unit will be responsible for the course cost and salary obligations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those with recent critical care experience, ACLS, Charge Nurse experience, experience on Code blue/Rapid Response teams. Cardiac monitor training and advanced ECG interpretation is also preferred. Of those without critical care experience, 3-5 years of medical/surgical experience is preferred.
