Graduate of a RN program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a RN within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0
Additional Required Qualifications:Current and active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (C.A.R.N.A.) and/or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (C.R.P.N.A) required. Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) or related settings required. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. Ability to work independently. Ability to work in a fast paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. Ability to recognize and manage the needs of dementia patients. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient changes in status. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet varying needs. Good organizational and conflict resolution skills required. Excellent time management skills. Proven dependability. Ability to be objective in decision making. Ability to be proactive with independent learning needs and up to date with current competencies.
Preferred Qualifications:Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred. I.V. certification and Alaris pump training preferred. Charge nurse experience preferred.
