Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Outpatient Cardiac Procedures Clinic at the Grey Nuns Hospital leads the coordination and delivery of non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. Working independently, the RN manages patient scheduling, preparation, and recovery. In collaboration with the Cardiologist and Nurse Practitioner, the RN performs cardioversions, cardiotilts, drug challenges, and loop recorder implants/explants, including procedural sedation within scope. The RN collaborates with Cardiologists and demonstrates leadership in clinical decision-making, patient education, and workflow management to ensure high-quality, efficient care.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of two years of recent cardiac experience in an acute care environment. Advanced skills in cardiac rhythm analysis and ECG interpretation required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage procedural workflows. Strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate patient care and scheduling. Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including Cardiologists and Nurse Practitioners. Proficient providing patient education and recovery care following cardiac procedures. Recent experience with cardioversions. Experience with procedural sedation within RN scope and policy. Demonstrated ability to manage patient flow, documentation, and procedural preparation/recovery independently. Familiarity with outpatient or ambulatory care settings. Comfortable with scheduling and booking responsibilities in the absence of clerical support. Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to evolving workflows and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

ACLS certification preferred. Experience in a cardiac ambulatory or outpatient procedural setting. Demonstrated leadership in clinical coordination and workflow management. Experience with cardioversions, cardiotilt tests, and procainamide studies is an asset.
