The Grey Nuns Hospital Emergency department is one of Edmonton’s highest volume Emergency Departments. Our team of health care professionals is focused on providing specialized Emergency care and urgent treatments in a community hospital setting. The Mental Health Nurse is a leader in the Emergency Department as part of our Mental Health team and provides a wide variety of nursing care to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes through critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families to make a positive difference toward their health and well-being. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care with attention to promoting a positive patient experience to those we serve in the Emergency Department all while practicing and role-modelling our Covenant values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity, Collaboration, Stewardship, and Social Justice.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.
