Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent adult ICU experience and/or successful completion of the Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPAACA) required. Internal applicants with recent adult ICU experience or who have completed OPAACA will be given first consideration. Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication, stress management, and conflict-resolution skills required. Proven critical thinking, problem-solving, and clinical decision-making abilities required. Excellent assessment, organizational, and documentation skills required. Ability to identify learning needs, seek guidance appropriately, and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development required. In the absence of qualified applicants as outlined above, candidates with at least two (2) years recent acute care nursing experience (Medicine, Surgery, and/or Emergency) may be considered. A recent Critical Care preceptorship within the last year may be considered. The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete OPAACA, which includes both theoretical and practical components. Employees must achieve a minimum grade of 75% on the theoretical component AND on the final examination to progress to the practical component. Successful completion of both the theoretical and practical components are required to be considered successful in OPACCA.
Preferred Qualifications:Current ACLS and charge nurse experience.
