Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience in mental health (Geriatric Psychiatry) or related settings required. Ability to recognize and manage the needs of dementia patients. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. Ability to work independently. Ability to be proactive with independent learning needs and up-to-date with current competencies. Ability to work in a fast paced and, at times, highly stressful environment. Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently. Strong assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to patient changes in status. Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication style to meet varying needs. Good organizational and conflict resolution skills required. Excellent time management skills. Proven dependability. Ability to be objective in decision making.
Preferred Qualifications:I.V. certification and Alaris pump training preferred. Current Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) training preferred. Charge nurse experience preferred.
