Graduate of a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA) and/or the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:1-2 years of recent/current acute mental health experience required. Ability to prioritize care for the mental health population required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills required. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment required. Knowledge of: Psychiatric Nursing Principles. The Mental Health Act and other relevant Mental Health legislation. Psychiatric Disorders and DSM-5. Psychotropic Medications. Mental State Assessments. Suicide Risk Assessment.
Preferred Qualifications:Non-Violent Crisis Intervention preferred. Recent ED experience preferred.
