Required Qualifications:

Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. Current Heart and Stroke BLS Certification (Level C) Health Care Provider required. Charge Nurse experience required. Strong critical thinking, conflict resolution and negotiation skills required. Demonstrated commitment to safe, ethical care and professional accountability is required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Five years or more senior management experience in a unionized health care environment, preferably in continuing care services is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong leadership skills. Requires the ability to work flexible hours. The Resident Care Manager provides administrative support for the sites and for other units to cover for vacations. Evidence of excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills. Evidence of initiative and flexibility. Evidence of commitment to foster professional growth and effectiveness of unit personnel. Strong commitment to the maintenance of the health and quality of life of the residents. Evidence of principle-based decision making. Ability to engender a cooperative work environment and spirit. Ability to organize time and resources effectively. Ability to actively listen to residents, staff and physicians to gain understanding and represent their views. Ability to articulate, promote and implement a management process based on program management with extensive delegation to staff. Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities on the basis of quantifiable outcomes. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to promote quality improvement strategies and methodologies to staff. Ability to collaboratively resolve the allocation of resources and other conflicts with other members of the portfolio staff.
