Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Perioperative Unit Manager, the Respiratory Therapist II (RRT II) assists anesthesia and nursing staff in the provision of both direct and indirect patient care within the Grey Nuns Community Hospital Operating Room (OR) and Post Anesthetic Recovery Room (PARR). The RRT II is a clinical practitioner who performs and completes daily functional checks of anesthetic and emergency airway equipment. The RRT II assists in the operation of a variety of anesthetic equipment and assists Anesthesia with difficult intubations as required. Under the direction of Anesthesia, the RRT II is responsible for assisting with arterial line insertions, blood gas sampling, hemodynamic monitoring, medication administration, ventilation management, and the management of the autologous blood transfusion system.

Description: The Respiratory Therapist II coordinates, monitors and assesses the clinical services in their assigned area, and acts as a clinical resource for daily operations and the development of clinical protocols. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized and accredited school of Respiratory Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration and member in good standing with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy. Current C.P.R. and B.C.L.S. Minimum of one (1) year recent experience in an acute care Operating Room. Knowledge of the autologous blood transfusion system. Must be registered with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapy of Alberta. Must have good organizational skills. Must be able to manage multiple competing priorities through the utilization of critical thinking, delegation, and prioritization skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and work well within a team. Must be able to respond and manage challenging, stressful situations in a calm, clear manner.
Preferred Qualifications:Anesthetic Technologist certification preferred. Recent experience within the past two years in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Emergency Department (ED) preferred. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification an asset.
