As a Senior Advisor, Communications – Urban Acute & Mental Health, you will play a key role in supporting how Covenant communicates and engages across some of our most dynamic and complex care environments. Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Senior Advisor, Communications – Urban Acute & Mental Health provides strategic advice, planning and execution support for integrated communications and engagement initiatives across Covenant. This role primarily supports urban acute care and mental health portfolios, working closely with leaders and client areas to develop and implement communications strategies that align with organizational priorities, enhance engagement and support high-quality care delivery. The Senior Advisor provides communications counsel, planning support and project leadership across a broad range of initiatives, including internal communications, media relations, issues management, social media and digital communications. The position leads and supports communications projects from concept through execution, including developing communications plans, creating content, coordinating across teams and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery. This includes contributing to corporate storytelling, digital content, publications and proactive communications that build awareness and understanding of Covenant’s services and impact within urban acute and mental health settings. The Senior Advisor also plays a key role in issues management and crisis communications, providing advice and support to leaders, identifying risks and opportunities, and helping ensure coordinated, effective responses in complex and time-sensitive situations. The role builds strong relationships across the organization and with external stakeholders, and contributes to a collaborative, high-performing communications function aligned with Covenant mission, values and commitment to service excellence. NOTE: Eligibility for a hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office) may be considered upon successful completion of probation. This position is non-unionized.

A Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, arts, social sciences, business administration or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience planning, implementing and evaluating communications strategies and advising leaders or supporting complex projects within a large, complex organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, including a related diploma and professional designation such as IABC or CPRS, with 8+ years of experience in a communications role within a complex, public sector environment.
Additional Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to Covenant's mission and values, with the ability to think strategically and apply sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a complex environment. They bring experience advising leaders and client areas, along with proven expertise in planning, implementing and evaluating communications strategies and managing significant projects and initiatives. The candidate has demonstrated experience in issues management, crisis communications and media relations, with the ability to respond effectively to situations that may impact organizational reputation. They bring experience developing and delivering a wide range of communications materials and strategies, including communications plans, news articles, social media content and digital communications. The successful candidate possesses strong project management capabilities, including managing timelines, budgets and stakeholders, and can prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment. They demonstrate excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, along with strong organizational skills and a client-focused approach. The candidate brings strong research, analytical and consulting skills, and builds effective relationships while collaborating across a diverse organization to deliver high-quality results.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare and/or public sector environments is valued, along with experience supporting acute care or mental health portfolios. The ideal candidate brings experience in community engagement and demonstrates strong capability in digital communications, including social media and web-based platforms. Experience with multimedia content development, such as video or digital storytelling, will further support success in this role.
