A bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, arts, social sciences, business administration or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with a relevant diploma, a professional designation from IABC or CPRS, and a minimum of eight years of experience in a complex public sector environment will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
With five to seven years of experience in strategic communications, this candidate excels in planning, implementing and evaluating initiatives while advising senior leaders or managing high-impact projects. They bring expertise in issues management, crisis communications and media relations, effectively responding to challenges that impact organizational reputation. Their extensive background includes conceptualizing, researching and developing comprehensive communications plans and materials, such as news articles, social media strategies and digital content. Possessing strong project management skills, they adeptly oversee timelines, budgets, team dynamics and stakeholder engagement. With deep proficiency in internal communications and digital platforms, they navigate electronic communications with ease. Highly organized and adaptable, they efficiently balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining a strategic and results-driven approach. They possess collaborative and relationship building skills, adaptability and innovative thinking to navigate change. They have a continuous improvement and leadership growth mindset, and the ability to manage tight deadlines on emerging issues.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in healthcare and public sector communications, experience in digital content creation, community engagement and event management. Commitment to Covenant’s core values. Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to apply best practices and emerging trends in communications and technology. This role requires flexibility, including scheduled and emergent after-hours communications support and occasional provincial travel.
