Your Opportunity:

In keeping with the Covenant Health’s Mission and Values and as an integral member of the Environmental Services team, the Supervisor, Environmental & Portering Services is responsible for organizing and supervising the activities which support the provision of quality Environmental Services to patients/residents/customers. (Environmental Services includes Housekeeping, Waste Management and Laundry, Portering,& Mailroom).

Description:

The Supervisor recruits, orientates, coordinates the training, supervises, evaluates and disciplines area employees. The supervisor is responsible for monitoring operational targets and making adjustments in daily work to achieve those targets, ensuring safe work practices and ensuring the safe functioning of area equipment. The supervisor leads and/or participates in departmental meetings and programs, and performs other duties as required. Tasks are completed using electronic programs whenever available. All tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision and following all applicable policies and standard operating procedures. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Grade Twelve (12) or a recognized equivalent. Completion of Supervisory coursework (CHA or equivalent) required, or diploma in Housekeeping Supervision preferred; equivalencies may be considered. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work on own initiative, make decisions and practice sound judgment. Must have a professional approach to work. Must be service oriented. Prepared to maintain current knowledge in housekeeping services and supervision. Computer Proficiency with Microsoft Office (ie: Outlook). Must be able to do a lot of walking.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Must have five (5) years' experience in Environmental Services (preferably in a hospital setting), with experience in supervisory capacity preferred.


Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of supervisory/management courses - communication, supervision desired.
