Your Opportunity:

Adhering to CSA Group Standards and Alberta Health Guidelines, the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) performs technical duties under general supervision to support the safe and effective reprocessing of medical devices and surgical instrumentation. Key Responsibilities: Transport contaminated medical devices safely and efficiently. Perform disassembly, decontamination, inspection, assembly, functional testing, high-level disinfection, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reprocessed equipment. Apply aseptic techniques and follow Universal Precautions to prevent Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Ensure all instrumentation and equipment are in proper working order. Conduct biological, chemical, and quality assurance testing as part of routine operations. Promptly report equipment issues or process deviations to the supervisor or designate. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding environment requiring prolonged standing, repetitive motion, and handling of heavy trays and equipment. Exposure to chemicals, biological materials, and high-temperature sterilization equipment. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory. Work is performed in a controlled, sterile environment with strict adherence to infection control protocols. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description: The Surgical Processor is responsible for the decontamination, reprocessing, and distribution of a variety of sterile and non-sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Program (including successful completion of practicum placement) required A Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Medical Device Reprocessing Certification required

Additional Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Program (including successful completion of practicum placement). CSA Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working within an MDRD or Health Sector. Proficient in computer applications.
