Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Switchboard Supervisor, the incumbent represents Covenant Health and its values as a first point of contact and plays an integral role in the health care system by responding to incoming and outgoing calls and requests that supports clinical processes and emergency responses for multiple Covenant Health sites. This position initiates communication responses to emergency situations, such as Cardiac Arrests, Code Reds and Disasters, performs a variety of inter-hospital communications functions and clerical duties as required. Description:
The Switchboard Operator is responsible for responding to incoming and outgoing calls and requests for non-technical information. The Switchboard Operator directs calls to appropriate areas of the facilities. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Six months recent related Switchboard experience required. Emergency Communications Certificate is an asset. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook and Excel) required. Experience in a hospital environment preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Ability to respond in a direct, calm and professional manner to emergency and stressful situations including but not limited to Emergency Code Condition calls, medical emergency calls and fire alarm calls. Excellent listening and comprehension skills. Attention to detail while processing large volumes of work.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of other hospital-use computer software (i.e. ESP, DataPulse, Epic - Connect Care) an asset. Working knowledge of medical terminology, with a medical terminology course, preferred. Broad knowledge of organizational interdependencies. Ability to work effectively and independently within timelines and with frequent interruptions. Must be able to maintain customer focus while performing duties. Must be able to recognize and strictly maintain confidential information.
