As an integral part of the Endoscopy team, the Unit Attendant II is responsible for collecting, inspecting, assembling, decontaminating, storing and distributing endoscopes while maintaining a clean and safe environment. In addition, the Unit Attendant II is responsible for a variety of duties supporting multi-disciplinary staff in procedure, preparation, and recovery rooms. These duties include obtaining, preparing and distributing patient care supplies, disinfecting surfaces, instruments and specialty equipment for immediate use/reuse by unit staff. The Unit Attendant II performed the above duties in accordance with established departmental standards and practices and in adherence to standards of external governing bodies. The Unit Attendant II functions as a member of the Endoscopy Team under the direction of the Assistant Head Nurse and Unit Manager. ***Please ensure a resume or application provides a detailed description of current work experience***

Description: The Unit Attendant is responsible for collecting, decontaminating, assembling, storing and distributing scopes, supplies and equipment. They are also to maintain a clean and safe environment. Duties are performed in adherence to established departmental standards and procedures, as well as in adherence to standards of external governing bodies. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required. Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS program is required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Grade 12 or recognized equivalent. Experience cleaning endoscopes within the last five (5) years. Procedure room experience, in a hospital or health setting, within last five (5) years. Examples of accepted settings include Operating Room, Labor & Delivery, Endoscopy.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent Endoscopy/Unit Attendant experience.
