Required Qualifications: Must have a Certificate from a recognized training program which includes a practicum component. A course in Medical Terminology is required. Must have at least two to three years directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:High school diploma. Related post-secondary certificate. Certification from a recognized training program which includes a practicum component. Successful completion of medical terminology course. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, and Outlook. Minimum 35 WPM typing ability. Proven understanding of medical tests including diagnostic imagining, medical procedures and surgical operations. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, occasionally walk short distances, lift up to 5 kg (8-11 pounds). Ability to spend majority of time in front of computer. Working knowledge of VAX, eFacilities, supply procurement, ePeople, Kronos, NetCARE, Connect Care. Ability to work various shifts including days, evenings and weekends and statutory holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:One - Two years’ experience in medical / surgical acute care setting – or equivalencies will be considered, such as a recent satisfactory completion of an acute care practicum in surgery.
