They work closely with the charge nurses and collaborate with the interdisciplinary and nursing teams to optimize care for the residents in our facility. The Unit Clerk performs clerical, receptionist and administrative duties associated with the activities and requirements of the unit or program. This includes, but limited to, processing physician orders, processing admissions and discharges, booking appointments, communicating with patients and families, stocks forms, photocopies, and faxes. Unit Clerks require excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills, and will be able to effectively work with other disciplines, departments, patients and families. Required Qualifications: Must have a Certificate from a recognized training program which includes a practicum component. A course in Medical Terminology is required. Must have at least two to three years directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Unit Clerk/Medical Office Assistant Certification. Excellent typing and computer skills. Excellent spoken and written communication skills. Ability to adapt within a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Unit Clerk Certification preferred. Recent Continuing Care experience. Experience using ESP, Connect Care and Microsoft Office.
