Your Opportunity:
The Unit Manager for 6 East is responsible to oversee the operations of a 24 bed inpatient surgical unit, servicing the orthopedic surgical services. Reporting to the Program Manager of Surgery, the Unit Manager will work collaboratively to ensure delivery of high quality care within the tenants of the Mission and Vision of Covenant Health.
Description:
The Unit Manager is responsible for the day-to-day unit operation including direct supervision of unit staff on an inpatient surgical unit. This role interacts with physicians, nursing staff, other unit staff, and other departments and interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. The Unit Manager creates a climate of interdepartmental respect and collaboration, and adheres and models the Covenant Health mission, vision and values. The responsibilities of this position are focused on four critical aspects of care and service: People and Teams; Access and Flow; Quality and Safety; and Efficiency and Resources. This position is non-unionized.

Current CARNA registration. Current Heart and Stroke BLS Certification (Level C). Baccalaureate degree in nursing. Minimum three (3) years of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting. Demonstrated evidence of leadership and supervisory skills. Commitment to Covenant Health mission and values.
Additional Required Qualifications:As required.
Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in nursing, Health Studies or Business preferred. Demonstrated aptitude for leadership and progression in career. Provides evidence of professional development. Experience as a nurse educator is an asset. Evidence of excellence in leadership, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
