Camrose is a city of over 19,000 residents, serving as a key service and shopping hub for a population of over 150,000 from the surrounding counties. It is known as the “Rose City” due to the large number of wild roses growing in the surrounding parklands. Camrose is 50minutes drive from Edmonton. The Unit Manager is responsible for day-to-day unit operation and direct supervision of unit staff. This role interacts with physicians, nursing staff, other unit staff, and other interdisciplinary team members on a daily basis and provides clinical support to patient/resident care by exception only. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient/resident care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. Description:

The unit manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations in the Medicine/Palliative/SCU Unit, Heart & Stroke Clinic and Respiratory Therapy, including direct supervision of staff. This role demonstrates role modeling of COV’s Mission, Vision and Values in daily interactions with staff/ patients/ residents/families. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient care activities and coaches, mentors, motivates and empowers clinical staff. The Unit Manager creates a climate of interdepartmental respect and collaboration and administers the applicable Collective Agreements for areas of responsibility. The responsibilities of this position are focused around four critical aspects of care and service: People and teams. Access and flow. Quality and safety. Efficiency and resources. The Manager, In conjunction with CNE (and program manager as needed, addresses learning needs of staff, Monitors staff development and holds frequent development discussions; Is responsible for hiring unit/department staff while considering every vacancy as an opportunity for change in care delivery. To minimize negative outcomes, the Unit Manager must possess considerable clinical knowledge, skill level and leadership abilities relevant to acute care. The Manager must have knowledge related to protocols, standards and techniques for the department and patient/client population. Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized Registered Nursing program required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BScN) recommended. Minimum three (3) years recent nursing experience required. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience recommended. Charge nurse experience required. Combination of education and experience may be considered. Current registration from the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (C.A.R.N.A.) required. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation B.L.S. Certification (Level C) Health Care Provider required.
