Description:

Reporting to the Program Manager of Operative Services, the Unit Manager is accountable for the day-to-day management of the Operating Room, which includes direct support and supervision of unit staff. The Unit Manager works collaboratively amongst the leadership team and is responsible to coordinate the daily operational activity, develop and recommend operational plans, support quality improvement initiatives, monitor and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and provide day to day support & supervision of staff within the unit. The position facilitates and fosters interdisciplinary participation in patient care activities as well as coaches, mentors, motivates, and empowers clinical staff. The MCH Surgical Suite is a dynamic 10 theatre operating room that specializes in Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Orthopedics/Orthopedic Trauma, Urology, Gynecology, iRSM. Occasional travel will be required in this role. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta. Baccalaureate of Nursing Degree (BScN). Current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C). Minimum 2 years proven management experience leading teams required in acute care setting. Minimum 5 years of related clinical experience. Charge nurse experience. Ability to work in a fast paced, complex environment. Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution skills Demonstrated leadership skills. Effective change management skills, with a proven ability to work within a team. Proven dependability and accountability. Strong computer skills, comfort with advances in technology, including MS Office & Connect Care. Commitment to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices. Commitment to Covenant Health Mission, Vision, and Values.

Preferred Qualifications:

Perioperative Nursing Certification preferred with 3 years of current OR Experience. Master's degree in nursing, Health Studies or Business preferred. Exhibits strong clinical knowledge and skill in Operating Room nursing. Demonstrated aptitude for leadership and progression in career. Provides evidence of professional development. Experience as an AHN, Team Lead or CNE is an asset. Evidence of excellence in leadership, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
