Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Supply Chain Coordinator, the Center Core Attendant is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Misericordia Community Hospital Operating Room Center Core area in a busy, fast paced environment supporting 10 surgical theatres. This involves completing case carts for each surgical procedure, maintaining the Operating Room (OR) Core environment according to standards outlined by CSA and the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada. Additional duties are performed in adherence to established departmental standards and procedures and include maintaining an inventory of back-up supplies in both center core according to set min/max levels of inventory. This involves ensuring that sterile and unsterile instruments, equipment and supplies are available for use in surgery as needed. This individual functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team that assists with the preparation of the surgical environment for the care of the patient. Description:

The Center Core Attendant is responsible for completing Operating Room (OR) case carts for each surgical procedure, maintaining the OR Core environment, and for ensuring that sterile and unsterile instruments, equipment and supplies are available for use in surgery as needed. The Center Core Attendant is a member of the multidisciplinary team and assists with the preparation of the surgical environment for the care of the patient. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or recognized equivalent required. Previous experience with Epic / Connect Care is an asset. Proficient in Microsoft outlook, word and excel. Recent experience using applicable standards to maintain, rotate, track and stock product or equipment. Able to set priorities and complete essential tasks within established time frames. Attention to detail and record keeping, with high degree of neatness and completion of tasks. Ability to accept direction from a multitude of stakeholders, seeking clarification as necessary. Able to work quickly and accurately with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. Working knowledge of surgical equipment instruments and supplies in an operating room setting an asset. Ability to stand and walk for complete shift required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous center core experience in an operating Room preferred. Knowledge of medical surgical supplies an asset. Proven interpersonal and organization abilities; well-focused with the ability to problem solve quickly and accurately. Able to function cohesively as a team player, working interdependently with co-workers, dealing with constant interruptions and changing workloads Excellent written and oral communication in English language, with ability to communicate in a clear concise manner.
