Your Opportunity:

Under limited supervision of the Accounts Receivable Supervisor and aligned with Covenant Health’s Mission and Values, this role provides professional customer service and supports financial operations within the Business Office. Key Responsibilities: Receipting & Deposits: Accurately receipt and code all hospital funds into the financial system. Prepare bank deposits, reconcile and balance petty cash floats, and scan/archive payment documentation. Handle payments from various departments and customers, ensuring proper GL coding and reporting discrepancies. Petty Cash Management: Maintain and replenish petty cash floats for the Business Office and other departments. Disburse funds per policy, ensuring proper documentation and authorization. Customer Service: Respond to billing/payment inquiries in person and by phone. Support Admitting and ER with payment collection. Coordinate general inquiries and process donations to Covenant Foundation. Safekeeping of Valuables: Collaborate with Registration to manage patient valuables. Ensure accurate documentation, contact patients/families for unclaimed items, and address related inquiries or complaints. Audits & Training: Conduct surprise cash audits across departments and report findings. Train and mentor casual staff on Business Office procedures. General Duties: Respond to internal/external inquiries, perform other office tasks, and attend staff meetings as required. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description:

The Clerk IV provides complex clerical support. The Clerk IV performs these tasks in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

One year related post secondary certificate required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma required. Some post-secondary accounting/financial courses required. At least 2 years related Accounting/Cash office experience required. Keyboarding skills and PC skills required. Working knowledge of Financial Billing Systems required. Basic understanding of accounting/billing. Experience in cash related functions. Ability to lift 25 - 30 lbs. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with department staff, external agencies, and the public. Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines. Ability to work within a team atmosphere. Ability to work on own initiative when required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Health Care environment preferred.
