Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director Capital Planning- Capital Management or as assigned, and working closely with the Capital Planning and provincial equipment team, the Equipment & Projects Coordinator is a key role in major and minor capital projects, renovations and equipment procurement and installations within Covenant Health facilities. From proposals through to completion, the Coordinator supports projects by coordinating internal and external resources, monitoring and reporting on progress, and working closely with project stakeholders. This role acts as a communication hub in coordinating logistics, administration, construction, equipment, documents, deliverables, action items, content, resources, and people. They contribute towards achieving the goals of successful scope, budget, schedule, quality, and other performance standards to the client’s and the organization’s satisfaction within a safe working environment. Work will be executed in an efficient, professional and collaborative manner and may include other duties as assigned.

Description:

The Coordinator is responsible to support the department as assigned, in the delivery and implementation of the various projects throughout the project life cycle, including project initiation, planning & design, execution, close-out, monitoring, and control. Types of projects may include major and minor capital projects and complex operational building infrastructure projects in facilities owned or operated by Covenant Health. The Coordinator’s duties will include, but are not limited to, scoping activities as directed, the development of project schedules, project budgets, procurement documentation, tracking & reporting functions and cash flow forecasts. In addition, this position will perform contract administration, project supervision, building and operational commissioning, coordination of equipment and its installation, and preliminary reviews and recommendations for approval of the project expenditures. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a College diploma in engineering, architecture, interior design, a health care related field (Bio-Med or Clinical Engineering), or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field; Well-developed interpersonal (influence, persuasion, negotiation, leadership and communication) skills are required for this position; Project management related work and familiarity with desktop software, contract law, insurance requirements, financial management and OH&S/WHS/WCB; Assets would be equipment planning; engineering; design background, building code, construction standards, construction procurement, inspection and testing requirements, understanding of clinical equipment, hospital building systems, telecommunication systems, clinical and office equipment. Computer assisted Project Management scheduling, theories, principles, practices and processes; as well as accounting and financial reporting systems and process knowledge would be an asset. Knowledge of Covenant Health internal policies and processes and construction practices and processes would be an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering or Project Management (Building Construction); Knowledge of Covenant Health internal policies & processes and construction practices & processes; accounting and financial reporting systems and process knowledge would be an asset.
