Description:
Reporting to the Director of Capital Planning or as assigned, the Coordinator contributes towards achieving the goals of successful scope, budget, schedule, quality, and other performance standards to the client’s and the organization’s satisfaction within a safe working environment. This position participates in the preliminary development of Project Implementation Plan (PIP)and/or Project Deliverable Agreement (PDA) that defines the scope of work, associated budgets, and project schedules; Assists in identifying stakeholders, developing the communication plan, outlining the procurement strategy and the project risks including strategies for risk mitigation; Assists with the development of the contract and procurement documents, participates in the procurement process including the evaluation of proponent submissions and co-development of the contractual agreements in accordance with Covenant Health Policies and Procedures, as required. They will communicate the project requirements with Consultants, Contractors and internal staff for better understanding and adherence to the project parameters; Aid in the alignment of project stakeholder expectations with the organization's and projects' parameters by interpreting and understanding client's needs and recommending innovative and amicable solutions; Support and facilitate construction meetings, communicate to stakeholders the project status and schedule, encourage active participation by all parties in the resolution of project issues, risks, and concerns; Monitor all stages of construction for cost effectiveness, adherence to contract Terms and Conditions and consistency with technical and functional program requirements; Carry out other job-related tasks as assigned. This position is a non-unionized 2 year temporary position.

Completion of a related diploma in Architecture, Building, Engineering or a related field. 3-5 years’ experience in Construction or a related field. Equivalencies in a combination of other educational background and extensive work experience within a construction background may be considered. Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, and manage time, workload & deadlines. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure ensuring all deadlines are met. Ability to travel and work some weekends (tentatively, project specific).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 1 year experience, at expert level, in the use of Project management- related software, MS Office Suite, MS Projects. Working knowledge of E-Facilities, contract law, insurance requirements, financial management and OH&S/WHS/WCB or similar is an asset. Design background, building code, construction standards, construction procurement, inspection and testing requirements, understanding of hospital building systems, telecommunication systems and clinical and office equipment is an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Exposure to prioritization activities of complex work and a high level of critical thinking skills is required. Experience successfully leading, communicating and working with diverse stakeholders on multiple projects is required. Knowledge of Covenant Health internal policies and processes as well as construction practices and processes would be an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering or Project Management (Building Construction). 5-7 years of related commercial/institutional construction project management experience with preference in hospital or healthcare facility. Construction and/or healthcare facility management experience preferred. PMP or CAPM designation associated in the Building Infrastructure Industry. Must have valid Alberta driver’s license.
