Description: The Food Services Attendant I portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting. The position is also responsible for cleaning equipment, supplies and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Display superior eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity and speed for working on a tray line/dis disassembly line. Must have high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Must be able to understand proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Must possess good interpersonal skills. Must have time management skills and the ability to plan for deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. WHMIS is desired. Food Safe is desired. Must be able to wok holidays, weekends and flexible hours as workload demands.

Preferred Qualifications:

Exposure to noise, water, fluctuating temperatures and unpleasant odors normally associated with the warewashing areas in an institutional food service facility. Significant periods of standing and reaching resulting from prolonged length of time spent at workstations. Push and pulling of utility carts garbage carts and lowerators weighing up to 160lbs. Exposure to various chemical compounds and cleaners some of which require special handling. Hands are in water for long periods of time.
