Description: The Unit Attendant supports the department by performing the tasks of stocking, restocking, cleaning, and portering of equipment, supplies, and patients. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS program is required. Ability to understand parameters of sterilization and apply microbiological principles. Ability to apply the characteristic properties of chemicals to the cleaning/decontamination process. Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions for cleaning, delivery of reprocessed items. Ability to understand processing requirements to organize workload with a minimum of supervision. Ability to retain knowledge of identification and necessary handling requirements of surgical instruments and medical supplies.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous Emergency Department experience preferred.
