As a casual employee at the Banff Mineral Springs Hospital, you can take shifts around your schedule, allowing you the freedom to set your own work-life balance. We are seeking individuals that can work at least one shift a week either early mornings 0630 –1445 or afternoon/evening shifts 1115-1930.The patient food services department in this multi-service facility makes a difference every day in the lives of over 40 patients and long-term care residents by preparing and serving high quality from scratch meals with excellent customer service. As an integral member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Food Service Worker I (FSW I) follows Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, and Values, performs routine food services tasks adhering to safety, quality, and diet protocols. The FSW I communicates diet information from the units to the kitchen ensuring accurate and quality service. They complete food preparation of simple food items, such as snacks, thickened fluids, and nutritional smoothies, is responsible for set up, delivery, and pick up of patient and resident meals in compliance with the diet order. The FSW I also monitors, records and stocks groceries and supplies, and completes cash handling duties. The FSW I can work on his or her own and in a team environment. The Food Services Worker is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established operating standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health at Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. The Food Services Worker interacts compassionately and respectfully with patients, residents, co-workers supervisors and managers. Please note: Classifications Under Review.

Description: The Food Service Worker portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting. The position is also responsible for washing and putting away dishes and cleaning kitchen and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE General Support Services Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Ability to read, write, speak and understand English-applicants may be requested to complete a Literacy test. Competent computer skills as a good portion of training, education, scheduling and payroll applications are on-line. Strong interpersonal skills and training in customer relations. Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. High standards for cleanliness and sanitation. High levels of honesty and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous food service experience in a care facility or institutional food service setting desired. Previous food service experience in a restaurant/cafeteria setting or customer service experience may be considered desirable in combination with other qualifications. WHMIS Certificate desired. Food Safe Certificate desired. Customer Service coursework desired.
