Your Opportunity:
The Surgical Float pool supports both Units 41 and 42. Both units are high acuity, high patient turnover and high intensity. Both units provide an equally challenging environment working alongside supportive teams. Unit 41 is the inpatient unit for the Northern Alberta Vascular Centre specializing in vascular surgery. The patient population also consists of general surgery, orthopedics and plastics. Unit 42 is the main inpatient unit for general surgery, gynecological surgery, orthopedics, plastics and ENT. Both teams strive to provide the best in patient care with a focus on engaging both patients and family in care delivery. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent 1-2 years of surgical or acute medicine experience. A recent successful preceptorship on an inpatient surgical unit will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:As Required.
