Your Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Unit Manager of the Grey Nuns Child Health Clinic, the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) plays a vital and compassionate role in supporting the emotional well-being and mental health of children and their families. With a focus on creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment, the MHT is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, delivering therapeutic interventions, and providing expert consultation services to address a broad spectrum of emotional, social, behavioural, and psychological challenges. Operating both autonomously and as a valued member of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, the MHT contributes to the holistic care of clients through collaborative and client-centered approaches. This includes drawing upon evidence-informed practices and current best-practice models in crisis intervention, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, case management, consultation, and referrals. A key component of this dynamic role involves performing the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention, utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities—such as individual, family, and group therapy—to support children and families navigating significant mental health concerns. The MHT is committed to fostering resilience, promoting positive development, and empowering clients on their journey toward improved mental health and well-being. Beyond direct clinical care within the Child Health Clinic, the MHT also serves as a vital liaison with community stakeholders and partner agencies. This collaborative outreach helps ensure that clients and their families are supported through a cohesive, responsive, and sustainable network of care that extends beyond the clinic walls and into their communities.
