Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:Interested candidates must be a graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent as well as have active registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. They must also have current Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider. Other required qualities include effective communication and organizational skills, proven by the ability to communicate changes in patient condition in a clear and timely manner. Along with sound assessment skills, the successful candidate will also have strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, in order to recognize, prioritize and anticipate patient needs. Candidates will have completed a Critical Care Course recognized by AHS/COV, and/or must pass a Critical Care Challenge exam. Candidates without previous critical care experience may be considered and if selected, will be required to undergo the Critical Care Orientation Program (OPACCA), and will be required to sign a 12 month Return of Service commitment agreement.
Preferred Qualifications:Preferred candidates will have recent critical care experience, current ACLS and charge nurse experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed their final practicum in a critical care area.
