Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses are also required: 1) CRNA Medication Administration Certificate - https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F 2) NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification - https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0
Additional Required Qualifications:Recent acute care nursing experience (Medicine/Surgery/Emergency) or a recent Critical Care preceptorship within the last year required. Strong interpersonal communication, stress management and conflict management skills. Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment, organizational and documentation skills. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to identify own learning needs, seek guidance in professional practice when deficits occur and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. Candidates without previous Adult ICU experience may be considered for the Orientation Program for Adult Critical Care in Alberta (OPACCA). OPACCA is a theoretical and practical training and orientation program. The candidate must achieve a grade of 75% or higher on theoretical component AND on the final examination to continue to the practical component. Successful completion of both components are required to be considered successful in OPACCA.
Preferred Qualifications:Preferred candidates will have recent critical care experience and /or 3-5 years of medical/surgical experience, current ACLS and charge nurse experience.
