Your Opportunity:

The New 85 million dollar Misericordia (MCH) Emergency Department (ED) opened in Fall 2023, is a large urban ED within Edmonton, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implements prescribed treatments, administers medications, monitors and evaluates treatments, and documents patient care and treatment response. The RN facilitates patient and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. In this role, you may be required to work in any area of the Emergency at the discretion of the manager and/or charge nurse. The RN is an integral stakeholder to the Misericordia Emergency.

Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of applicable medical/surgical/critical care experience (note: candidates with less experience may be considered). Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of ED experience in a large urban ED preferred. Charge nurse experience preferred. ENA Emergency Nursing Certificate preferred. Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ITLS, etc.) preferred. Intravenous (IV) certification preferred (required upon hire).
