Your Opportunity:

We are looking for casual Respiratory Therapist I professionals to join our team, individuals who are passionate about delivering exceptional respiratory care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. In this role, you will carry out a wide range of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This exciting opportunity offers exposure to diverse areas of practice, including respiratory care, rehabilitation classes, and advanced diagnostics such as pulmonary function testing, cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing, and exertional oxygen walk testing. You will also play an important role in patient education, contribute to innovative research projects, and help maintain the specialized medical equipment that supports high-quality care within the department. The Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre proudly serves nearly 500 residents with compassionate long-term care, subacute care, and hospice care tailored to their individual needs. Description:

The Respiratory Therapist I (RT) is responsible for professional assessment, therapeutic intervention and follow-up for patients with cardio-pulmonary and related disorders. The RT I reviews clinical referrals, conducts assessments and performs diagnostic testing, develops and administers care plans for patients, facilitates discharge and provides education to clients, family and care givers. The RT I is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized and accredited school of Respiratory Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration and member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Certification in Arterial Blood Gases. Strong clinical skills in ventilation, airway management, and critical thinking. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with strong overall computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of one year of experience in a recognized pulmonary rehabilitation program. Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE) designation considered an asset. Experience in community-based care settings. Registration with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (C.S.R.T.). Experience with Connect Care.
