Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized and accredited school of Respiratory Therapy program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration and member in good standing with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years recent experience in an operative care environment as a Respiratory Therapist. Member in good standing with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists (CARTA). Successful completion of CBRC exam. Knowledge and understanding of POCT, Accreditation Standards, Health Professions Act, ARTA Standards of Practice, Code of Conduct/Ethics and FOIP. Knowledge of the principles of anesthesia (both regional and general), anesthesia pharmacology, anesthesia equipment, airway management, invasive and non-invasive physiological monitoring, principles of asepsis and sterile technique, post-anesthesia care, pain management and special considerations in anesthesia. Evidence of current and ongoing leadership, research into best practice and change management. Excellent priority setting ability and awareness of clinical urgency in practice situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited post-graduate Anesthetic Assistant Program. Fit testing for N-95 Mask, BeLITE Certification. Current ACLS, Arterial Line Insertion, Intravenous Line Insertion certification. Change management Proscii/ADKAR. Crucial Conversations Training on principles of adult learning. Emotional intelligence. Management and /or Leadership training.
