Reporting to the Corporate Director, Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), the Manager is responsible for assuming a leadership role in the operations of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department for the rural Covenant Health sites. This includes St. Mary’s Hospital, Camrose; St. Joseph’s General Hospital, Vegreville; Bonnyville Healthcare Centre, and Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. Travel to each site is required on a regular basis and is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic rural healthcare environment and is passionate about delivering safe, reliable care. The position includes leading in-site based operational and quality assurance planning; program development and evaluation; management of human resources and service delivery that is patient focused and continuously monitored to ensure congruence with ever changing internal and external factors. Description:

The Rural MDR Manager plays a critical leadership role in advancing safe, high-quality medical device reprocessing across rural sites. This position requires regular travel and a strong commitment to fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement. With a focus on driving results and ensuring accountability, the Manager leads compliance with national standards and regulations, including maintaining CSA certification through recognized education and successful completion of the MDRD certification exam. They proactively monitor changes in legislation, standards and audit outcomes, translating these into updated policies, procedures and practice improvements. Demonstrating strong organizational and talent development competencies, the Manager ensures all staff are effectively oriented to safe work practices, including patient safety, occupational health and safety, and infection prevention and control. They lead baseline and annual competency assessments, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and identify learning opportunities to support individual and team performance. This role requires sound decision-making and problem-solving skills to respond to critical incidents, adverse events and audit findings, ensuring appropriate follow-up and documentation. The Manager also oversees accurate and compliant record keeping in alignment with organizational and national standards. With a focus on collaboration and operational excellence, the Manager is responsible for key human resource functions including workforce planning, staffing, scheduling and payroll. They create an environment that supports staff safety, engagement and high performance. This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Certification from MDR Technical Training Course. CSA Certification. Minimum three years recent experience in health care management preferred with a proven track record of clinical service and leadership. Minimum five years recent clinical experience in Medical Device Reprocessing. Combination of experience and education will be considered.

Highly organized, with the ability to plan, prioritize and adapt in a dynamic environment while managing competing demands and delivering on commitments. Brings a proactive, solutions-focused mindset, leveraging strong planning and coordination skills to optimize workflows, support team effectiveness and achieve operational excellence.


Preferred Qualifications:

Member of the Canadian Association of Medical Device Reprocessing (CAMDR).
