This Senior Space & Furnishings Planner (SSFP) position reports to the Director, Capital Planning & Projects and is responsible for the management and facilitation of space and accommodation planning; all moves & logistics associated; special project planning; and furnishings planning & procurement; in collaboration with all levels of Covenant Health Departments, Alberta Infrastructure and Community and external partners. Description:

The Senior Space & Furnishings Planner (SSFP) is responsible for maintaining accurate, up-to-date information on occupied and vacant spaces across facilities, including inventories, managing departmental space requirements in alignment with functional program plans, and leading day-to-day planning activities. This role plans and coordinates all move projects, recommends room layouts, and reviews drawings to ensure effective space utilization. The SSFP provides input and recommendations regarding the selection of external consultants, prepares and distributes relevant documentation such as work & floor plans and room layouts, and organizes or chairs meetings to facilitate both internal and external project work with key partners as needed. Key duties include preparing reports, workplans, layouts, presenting feedback, and making recommendations based on consultations. The incumbent recommends policies and procedures for space allocation, moves and furnishings across all Covenant Health facilities, ensuring requests are properly documented, reviewed, and coordinated with Project Managers and other partners. Additional responsibilities involve assessing departmental impacts, developing and maintaining project schedules, and overseeing surplus furniture and equipment availability. The SSFP also develops project scopes, budgets, and procurement methods for renovations and relocations, leading user group meetings during design and planning phases. Collaboration with users, Operations and Maintenance, and Project Managers ensures appropriate room and directional signage across facilities. The role represents the department at site management and other committee meetings and performs additional related duties as assigned. Travel is required, and some evening or weekend hours may be necessary depending on project needs. This is a non-unionized position.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 certificate or equivalent. 2-3 years of related Health Care work experience.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate activities. Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization and with representatives of external agencies. Proven problem solving and organizational skills. Familiarity with Health Care programs and knowledge of basic clinical procedure and terminology. Ability to work with AutoCAD. Strong computer utilization skills including Microsoft – Word, Excel, and Project software.


Preferred Qualifications:

Post secondary degree or certificate in Health Services Management, Planning, Architectural Technology or a related discipline is preferred. Certificate in Construction Administration an asset.
