Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, the Supervisor, Site Operations (Chief Engineer) is responsible for the coordination and supervision of Trades, Maintenance Workers and Operations staff. The Supervisor, Site Operations (Chief Engineer) participates in activities related to construction projects and in-house upgrades as assigned, providing assistance to Capital Planning staff as required. The Supervisor, Site Operations (Chief Engineer) is a point of contact for all daily operational planning and work direction provided to the assigned trades and maintenance staff as well as the operations staff. The Supervisor, Site Operations (Chief Engineer) provides direct support to the Manager through ongoing contact concerning all operational decisions that can or may have a direct or indirect impact on the safe and efficient operations of the facility.

Description:

Coordinates the in-scope trades and maintenance staff as well as contractors to ensure Preventative and Demand Maintenance is carried out in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures safe and efficient operation of the Facilities and Power Plants in accordance with the Safety Codes Act and the Alberta Boiler Safety Association. Acts as key contact for maintenance on hospital fixed equipment and systems for scheduled shutdowns, maintenance, inspection and project related work. Ensures appropriate Resources are available to maintain work activities. Acts as site Fire Marshall This position is non-unionized.

Required Qualifications:

Current Third Class Power Engineering certificate or higher.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Working knowledge of Alberta fire and building codes. Training in Emergency Preparedness. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and written specifications. Working knowledge of a computerized maintenance system. Proficiency in Microsoft computer programs specifically; Outlook, Word, Excel. Ability to identify and customize communication to various levels.


Preferred Qualifications:

Current Alberta Journeyman Certificate in one or more building trades; Mechanical, Structural or Electrical an asset. Certified Engineering Technology certificate or diploma with current relevant experience an asset. Five years experience at the Journeyman Trade or Third Class Power Engineering with a minimum of two years supervisory experience in a union hospital or similar setting.
